CC1W…The First, Fully Approved, Wireless Load Cell
Flintec are proud to present the new CC1W, the first fully approved wireless load cell for use in hazardous locations in the oil and gas industry.
The CC1W is designed for use with pump off control systems to automate wells that utilize rod lift technology. Traditionally, these systems have load cells that transmit pump force data via a cable. The cable is the weak link of the system, breaking regularly. A broken cable will cost in excess of $500 to replace and result in significant pump down time.
The revolutionary design of the CC1W allows for the traditional cable assembly to be eliminated. In addition, the Flintec technology offers optional on-board position sensing capabilities, eliminating the need for hall effect sensors, inclinometers and the associated cables.
The mechanical design of the CC1W is based on our CC1 wired load cell, adapted to include a battery powered wireless transmitter. The transmitter sends an encrypted signal to the receiver unit, fitted directly to the pump off controller.
The load cell transmitter uses a readily available D cell battery, powering the unit for 12 to 18 months. Key features include:
- Continuous data flow at 100 rps
- High signal strength at 13 – 18 dBm
- On-board position sensing
- UL approval for Class 1, Div 1
- Plug and play communication
- Encrypted signal, allowing for multiple installations to work independently and without interference
The CC1W was developed hand in hand with field operators to ensure their requirements were met. The system was field trailed for 18 months to ensure reliability.
Unlike many products currently in the market, the CC1W boasts UL approval for intrinsically safe operation along with FCC and ICC approvals. The system is also CE and RoHS complaint with an IP67 rating.
Alongside the CC1W, Flintec brings the CCWR to market. This product is a retrofit kit to convert existing wired load cells into wireless load cells. The CCWR provides the same performance characteristics of the CC1W and can be used with any wired mV/V load cell already in use. This eliminates the need for a cable assembly and the associated failures.
